On Sunday evenings, high school youth and college age young adults meet at Fr. Severin's Life Center (school gym) from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. for social, faith formation, and prayer. Those who participate will become members of the Dead Theologians Society, which is an apostolate that inspires the youth of today to become saints of tomorrow. A special charism of the Dead Theologians Society is to pray for the release of the souls in Purgatory. Its motto is, “Dead to the world, alive in Christ!” This is inspired by Romans 6:11, where St. Paul tells us to be dead to sin but alive in Christ Jesus.

This is a confusing time for all of us, especially for the youth, living among many distracting noises and dangerous voices that are drawing them to follow influences harmful to their souls and faith. It is important now more than ever to support and remind the youth that they are loved and called by God to become saints, as the late Pope Benedict XVI exhorted us: “The world promises you comfort, but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness.” By being a part of this apostolate in our parish, where they will feel they belong, receive and offer mutual support, learn about the lives of the saints, and grow in their prayer life, they will be better equipped to live their lives as Christians and listen more clearly to the voice of God in their daily lives.

Each meeting will begin with a half-hour social gathering and end with another half-hour social gathering with food. The time in between will be split into various activities such as learning about a saint, Q&A sessions, intercessory prayer, and devotional prayers. Additionally, members will have the opportunity to be enrolled in the Brown Scapular and receive official DTS hoodies. Parents are also encouraged to stay throughout to help with whatever is needed.
