Eucharistic Adoration

Look upon the hour of adoration assigned to you as an hour in paradise. Go to your adoration as one would to heaven, to the divine banquet. You will then long for that hour and hail it with joy. Take delight in fostering a longing for it in your heart. Tell yourself, “In four hours, in two hours, in one hour, our Lord will give me an audience of grace and love. He has invited me; he is waiting for me; he is longing for me.”
- St. Peter Julian Eymard

Spending time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration is a rich tradition in the Catholic faith. In fact, one of the first references is from St. Basil who died in 349. It is believed that when St. Basil celebrated Mass at the monastery, he divided the host into three parts:  one part was consumed; the second part was given to the monks; and the third part "was placed in a golden dove suspended over the altar".  (www.ewtn.com) Over time, Adoration became more familiar and by the 14th century, the practice of visiting Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament was fairly common.

Spending time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration allows us to show our love for Him. We can share our thoughts, fears, joys, and failures with our Savior in the stillness of a quiet church or chapel.  It is also in this place where we can hear what God wants to tell us. These conversations with Christ will strengthen our faith and bring us closer to Him.

Volunteers are always need to come and sit with Jesus during Eucharistic Adoration.  See the options in the blue section and considering committing to one hour per month. Sign up for a time slot by contacting Jonathan Higgins.
