Prayer for Pregnant Mothers

O Blessed Mother, you received the good news of the incarnation of Christ, your Son, with faith and trust. Grant your protection to all pregnant mothers and fathers facing difficulties.  Guide us as we strive to make our parish communities places of welcome and assistance for mothers and fathers in need. Help us become instruments of God’s love and compassion. Mary, Mother of the Church, graciously help us build a culture of life and a civilization of love, together with all people of good will, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.

Pray for Life 2020

The Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities invites you to Pray for Life.  Each month, prayers, a reflection, act of reparation, and more are presented for those who want to prayerfully fight in the battle against abortion.  February's intercession is:  "May Catholic communities strive to provide compassionate, tangible support to expectant moms needing assistance".

To find out more and to begin praying with others for an end to abortion, please visit the Secretariat's website.  Please visit the site often and help us in the fight for life!

Walking with Moms in Need:  A Year of Service

In November, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, "enthusiastically embraced an initiative entitled Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service as the most appropriate way to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the promulgation of The Gospel of Life. Every diocese and every parish in the United States are encouraged to assess the pastoral and practical assistance currently available to pregnant moms and families".  To find out more about this initiative, please click here.  To read Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann's homily about this initiative, please click here.  Archbishop Naumann is the Chairman of the USCCB's Pro-life Activities.

Suicide Prevention

Did you know 25% of people age 18-24 will consider suicide this month? Unfortunately, there is not a set list of signs for every person, but here are some things to take note of and watch for: changes in behavior or sleep patterns, unexplained physical pain, accessing lethal means to carry out suicide such as buying a gun, or hoarding pills, having someone close attempt or successfully commit suicide, or emotional upheaval in a person's life. Bottom line, anything that gives you pause, you should take seriously and ask if they’re considering suicide. Asking this question will not make someone attempt to take their life. It may actually be the thing that saves it! If you or someone you know is struggling and considering suicide, please call the national suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-TALK. There are trained professionals available to give all ages, including veterans, someone to talk through what is being felt.

Monthly Meetings

The Pro-Life Committee is also looking for input and new members to help grow this ministry!  We would especially like to get the youth involved to have the most diverse ideas on how to affect change in the current culture.  Meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month in Parish Office Rm. 1 after the 6 p.m. Mass (please enter through door #9).  Events are planned for the month of October and January each year.
